Battle of the Books practices will begin again soon, and many students have already been reading the new Battle books for the 2025 competition.

Zones: Thursday April 10, 2025 (Location TBD)
Districts: Thursday April 24, 2025 (Henry Grube Education Centre)

Mrs. Sauer would like to thank everyone for supporting the Scholastic Book Fair fundraiser in our library! We had a very successful Book Fair and we were able to earn over $1400, which goes towards purchasing new books for our library! Thank you!

It's Scholastic Book Fair Time!

There is an excitement around the school as the Scholastic Book Fair is happening this week! Students will have 2 opportunities to visit the Book Fair with their class:
1. to preview and write up a wish list
2. to purchase books, if they are permitted to do so

The public is more than welcome to come visit the Book Fair during these hours:
Tuesday November 26th 2:30-4:30pm
Wednesday November 27th 8:00am-8:30am and 2:30-4:30pm
Thursday November 28th 8:00am-8:30am

This is a fantastic fundraiser for our library and we thank you for supporting our Westmount Book Fair!

Westmount likes to DEAR!

Today was National School Library Day, which means that it was DEAR day! - a day that we can celebrate books, literacy, and learning how to read!
Students, and teachers, had the opportunity to stop whatever they were doing, grab a book, and Read!

3rd Annual Sagebrush Book Awards

The Sagebrush Books has returned for the 3rd year! Students have an opportunity to vote on their favourite book to decide which Picture Book and Novel will win the Sagebrush Award!
Winners are announced in June 2025.

The past year students participated in the Sagebrush Book Awards. 8 picture books and 8 novels were chosen by a team of Teacher Librarians in our district, and students had the opportunity to read and vote on their favourite!

Butterflies

Mrs. Sauer looks forward to Springtime and having a few butterflies in the library! From the larva to the chrysalis and emerging as a butterfly, students get to watch this amazing life cycle until we finally release the beautiful Painted Lady Butterflies!

Dreaming of Summer!

Mrs. Sauer LOVES camping, so why not have a bit of camping fun in the library and read a story in a tent! Monster and Mouse Go Camping is a great story about a little mouse that takes a monster friend camping for the very first time!
